Silver Creek Falls

We went to Silver Creek Falls today with some good friends and it was even more beautiful than I remember.  We did a couple mile loop and Little Italy insisted on walking almost all of it!  I was so proud of her.

I hope everyone else enjoyed their Memorial Day as much as we did and that you were able to take the time to pay tribute to the many men and women who have given either their time and lives to this great country.

Because I'm Free!

I put Siena down for a nap the other day and an hour and forty five minutes later she was still wide awake, whistling and singing songs in her room, so I figured the nap was shot for the day, so I went in to tell her she could come out and I found her jumping on her bed, naked!  She was so happy!  It took all of my control to not laugh because I didn't want her to think that I applauded that kind of behavior, but boy was it so dang cute and hilarious!  She's always loved to go diaper free.  Often in the course of changing her diapers or her clothes, she'll run off and try to hide, laughing all the way.  She'll probably kill me for this post 14 years down the road, but it's just so cute watching that bare bottom run across the room or hallway, ecstatic because she got free.

Last night when I went to tuck her in, she had unzipped her pajamas and taken off her diaper and was dead asleep.  I died laughing this time because I could!

Mama?

We have really pushed Siena to say certain words in Italian, such as babbo (daddy) and mama.  Due to the influences of others, mainly church acquaintances, she has recently started to call us daddy and mommy.  The first time she said the word daddy, I didn't even know what she was trying to say because I didn't think she knew the word!  It's really funny because she only uses the word mommy, when she wants to get my attention because she knows it still surprises me.  It has been a great lesson to me that she's at an age where she will pick up on anything.  The other day I was in shock at something I saw and I said, "Oh my gosh!" and sure enough, she said it too, which made me realize that I really have to watch what I say around her because I play such a big part of who she will become one day.  What's that quote, "with great power comes great responsibility"?
It really doesn't matter to me what she calls me, mama, mom, mommy, I'm just grateful that I'm her mother.

Elections

video
The Farmer household has been in full campaign mode for the past month, which has left little time for anything else.  After an eye opening year as Student Body President, Jonathan is running to be re-elected.  Now, I must admit that it's been a really tough year not having him in the house with us, but the change he's created within the University has been incredible.  He's been told numerous times by those in authority that no Student Body President within the years of remembrance have accomplished as much as he has.  I am so incredibly proud of him and the desire he has for good within his school.

Jonathan and his running mate, Erin, have really pulled out all of the stops for their campaign.  They rented a cotton candy machine for 2 days, handed out popsicles, otter pops, hershey kisses, gold coins, and held a campaign dinner for the many club presidents within Western.  They also created these awesome t-shirts, seen below!
Siena has been a very important part of this campaign.  Her face is plastered on posters around campus and she has been out campaigning with Jonathan as often as she can.  It might be a little shameless, but it's working.  Everywhere we go, people talk about our posters, even the people at church have noticed!
They have a campaign staff of close to 20, but these are just a few of the many wonderful students who share Jonathan's and Erin's vision.  A big thanks to all of them for a well run and clean campaign!  Friday at 2pm the polls close and I'll make sure to update you on the results.

Siena's not through birth or marriage Grandma

I'm not sure anyone else enjoyed the beautiful weather today as much as Siena did.  We let her skip her daily nap and took her to a park where we had a picnic, threw rocks in the water, climbed in trees, and had a blast on the playground.  Did I mention the awesome company we had?  Our good friends Keri and Kyle joined us on our excursion.

I was looking through the photos when I found the photo below.  It literally made me laugh out loud because her expression was just so funny.
Keri and Siena
Most kids throw rocks the size of marbles or even baseballs, but Siena wanted to be like her Babbo and throw rocks that weighed as much as her.
Jonathan's mark on history.  Do you think it will stand the tests of time?

We've known Keri since our time in the singles ward and after which could be a very long explanation, I'll just say that Jonathan calls her Mom and she's his son, which makes Siena her granddaughter, kind of.  Anyways, here's a couple of three generational shots.
Look what we found in the park!  I think we'll just take her home with us.
